  • The Little Kitten and the New Sad

In this warm and heartfelt story, “The Little Kitten and the New Sad” helps young readers understand one of life’s most difficult experiences—Grief. Little Kitten often welcomes feelings like Happy, Joy, and Love. Sometimes Scared, Worried, Mad, and Sad visit too, and he knows they all matter. But when Momma Cat shares that someone he loves has died, a new kind of Sad arrives. It’s darker, bigger, louder, and stays much longer. Unsure of what to do, Little Kitten talks to Momma Cat, who brings him to the Wise Dog. With gentle guidance, the Wise Dog helps him understand this feeling is called Grief—a mix of Sad and Love. Little Kitten learns it's okay to let Grief visit, to miss someone, and to hold onto loving memories. This beautifully told story is a comforting companion for children navigating Grief, gently reminding them that all emotions are welcome—and that even when someone is gone, Love stays near.
